The same cards we all know and love now with the Kickstarter extra cards and a small portable guidebook.
Kickstarter Extras
Due to the success of our most recent Kickstarter campaign were able to create brand new never seen before art work for these cards. See pictures of these in the image slideshow. Please bare ibn mind these are just mock sketches of the artwork as Alicia is currently embroidering the new art right now. Once finished the embroideries are then photographed and this photo gets printed onto cards just like the others in this deck. Along with the original 68 embroideries we now have 7 new cards:
Whimsy. Whimsy replaces the previous Kickstarter exclusive card from the last edition (Community.) A unicorn slumbers on a crescent moon held aloft in the clouds by a glittering seashell hot air balloon. This card reminds us of the power of our imagination and the importance of child-like play and dreaming.
Imbolc. A Jackalope surrounded by Snowdrops rests with lit candles on their antlers. This card evokes the magic of Imbolc as the earth begins to awaken again after a restful winter. It tells us we can begin to plan and prepare for our goals slowly at our own speed and when we feel ready.
Beltane. Under the water happy little frogs dance around a water lily maypole heralding in the quickening energy of Beltane. This card reminds us of the joys and simple pleasures to be found all around us and invites us to celebrate the return of the Sun during this busy season.
Lughnasadh. A red squirrel rests in the shade of a hydrangea bush, pausing from his foraging. Lughnasadh is the first of the harvesting sabbats despite it often still being quite hot. This card reminds us to prepare for the changing weather and conditions we may face soon even if we can't imagine things ever changing.
Adrift. A pair of skeletal seahorses dance around a slowly sinking lace applique anchor. this card acknowledges lost or misplaced loved ones or a life cut short and reminds us of the importance of expressing our love at every opportunity we have.
Pursuit. A skeletal Great White Shark hunts tirelessly amongst lace jellyfish. This card tells us to pursue our goals and ambitions with the same single-minded determination as these amazing apex predators.
Frida. Inspired by Frida Kahlo's 'self-portrait with thorn necklace and hummingbird' -1940 this card celebrates Mexican art culture and provides a space for seen and unseen disabilities. Frida Kahlo is one of Mexico's most famous artists. She had polio as a child and suffered a vehicular accident as a teen which caused her chronic pain for the rest of her life. She often explored her relationship with disability and chronic pain in her artwork. The original embroidered hoop art by Alicia raised over £400 to DisabilityUK. The card reminds us that just like Frida that we can thrive despite our limitations.
This oracle has been lovingly created to be a tool for shadow work and to guide the reader past their fears. Consider this deck a comforting night light for the soul. Yes we’re going to traverse the darkness but we don’t have to do it alone or without tools. The deck features the art style of hand embroidery (by yours truly) and uses this cosy style to get comfortable in the uncomfortable. I’m talking of course of what it is to take a breath and look death in the eye.
My name is Alicia, the embroidery artist and creator of this oracle. This deck is my love letter to Crone Goddesses and Death matrons throughout the world. It celebrates the light and shadow of the typical and atypical feminine archetype and the joy and security that can be found when we stop and look within to meet our true selves.
This deck comforts the reader through the ups and downs of life and aims to allow them to call back their power, no longer living in fear’s shadow. Knowing we are mortal is a superpower, we can use this knowledge and decide to take action now, achieving huge bold lives that bring us lasting contentment and existential peace.
